Definitions
Aerial patrol A flight to carry out aerial patrols (e.g. pipeline controls, police patrols)
Agricultural A flight to service agricultural needs (e.g. crop spraying etc.). This includes flights to and from the spray area.
Ambulance Air ambulance flights and Helicopter Emergency Medical Service
Banner and Glider Towing Flights to carry out aerial advertising (e.g. banner towing) or to tow another aircraft (e.g. glider towing)
Calibration/Inspection
Cargo Cargo includes freight, unaccompanied baggage and mail.
Demonstration Display flying, aircraft demonstration, air races
External load operation (Construction, Logging) A (helicopter) flight to assist in construction work, carrying sling loads or logging activities
Executive Flight to carry company personnel. Includes corporate operations.
Ferry/positioning A positioning flight not related to revenue operations
Fire fighting A flight to carry out fire fighting activities (e.g. spotting, water bombing etc.). This includes flights to and from the fire area
Illegal Flight Any illegal operation (aircraft stolen, unauthorized flight, illegal flight)
Military All flights carried out by military operators
None When aircraft is not on use at the time of the event
Offshore operations Helicopter operations to/from offshore installations (oil rigs, ships etc.)
Parachuting A flight to carry parachutists.
Passenger - Non-Scheduled/charter/air taxi Charter flights and on-demand, non-scheduled flights
Passenger - Scheduled A scheduled flight carrying one or more revenue passengers.
Passenger To be used when it is not certain if the flight was scheduled or not
Private Private flying operations for no specific purpose.
Survey A flight to carry out aerial surveys or aerial photography
Test Flights for the purpose of testing aircraft (e.g. after maintenance, to obtain type certificates etc.)
